黑马磁力 Good Times Cruise-In has always been more than just cars, with organizers putting as much thought into the stage as they do the streets.
This year’s entertainment lineup stretches from one end of Aldergrove's downtown, to the other, with performances starting early in the morning and continuing throughout the day on Saturday, Sept. 6.
Crowds can expect familiar favourites, energetic bands, and cultural performances, said director Marty Brown.
Cruise-In will feature some really great bands and live entertainment this year, he boasted.
The main stage program begins at 10:30 a.m. with Steve Elliott, known as Elvis Elite, delivering his classic performance.
He’ll be joined by Paradise Found, a Hawaiian dance group that became a crowd-pleaser for their hula and traditional Hawaiian dance.
Founder of Paradise Found Susan Madec said she is bringing her troupe back to Cruise-In for a second year.
“We're going to do our Blue Hawaii movie numbers with him. And then we're going to do two of our short shows with some ladies doing two just Polynesian shows in Hawaiian, mostly including Hawaiian, Tahitian, and some Maori,” she added.
While the variety of bands ensures music lovers will find something to enjoy, Brown said the Hawaiian troupe is expected to once again charm the crowd.
Brown added, “Their show will be a bit bigger and improved this year.”
“We performed with Steve last year at Cruise-In and had a lot of fun and we didn't rehearse or anything. So it was kind of all very spontaneous which made it more fun,” said Madec.
The music doesn’t stop there. On the 272 Street stage, Vancouver-based band Sound Machine is set to return after their debut last year and kicks off at 10:30 a.m.
“They do everything from pop hits from the ‘70s on up to current music.”
Brown discovered the band at another event and was mesmerized by their performance.
“I practically begged them to come and play at Cruise-In,” he said.
At the opposite end of Aldergrove, the 264 Street stage starts at 10:30 a.m. with Zed City, followed by Six Gun Romeo and The Bombers later in the day.
“They’re all kind of classic rock to modern rock, and they are very accomplished musicians and performers. It’s an absolute treat to have all of those bands at Cruise-In,” said Brown.
This year, a new kids entertainment is being added that begins early at 8 a.m.
A small midway carnival across from the Aldergrove Community Centre will offer skill games and prizes for kids.
The West Coast Scale Trail also returns with its interactive remote-control obstacle course.
With multiple stages, dance, carnival games, and interactive displays, Cruise-In’s entertainment schedule offers just as much to enjoy off the streets.
黑马磁力 Good Times Cruise-In is a charity car show held in downtown Aldergrove. This year, the event runs Saturday, Sept. 6, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with the main drag blocked off and an estimated 1,300 classic, custom, and vintage cars expected to be on display.
