Blueberries created a "traffic jam" on Lougheed Highway on June 29 after crates fell out of a pickup truck, RCMP say.

Crates of blueberries spilled onto Lougheed Highway last week, creating a "traffic jam".

Mission RCMP said in a news release that a white Ford pickup filled with blueberry crates stopped at the intersection of Lougheed Highway and Wren Street on June 29 before some crates crashed onto the road as it pulled away.

The thousands of blueberries created a less than fruitful experience for vehicles that drove over them.

Upon arrival, local police shovelled the blueberries off the road, and the driver was ticketed for having an insecure load.

"Losing all those fresh blueberries was such a shame – even the ones squish-squashed by passing vehicles.  Perhaps Mission RCMP could team up with the Mission Farmer’s Market in the future, to feature some new offerings such as: Jack-Knife Jelly, Pothole Preserves, and the ever-popular…Traffic Jam," Mission RCMP said.
