Calgary police are investigating after three people were assaulted on the city's Stampede Midway Tuesday (July 8).
Officers first responded to reports of an assault near the Euroslide on the Calgary Stampede Midway around 11:05 p.m. where they found a man in medical distress, Calgary Police Service said in a news release Wednesday. The man was taken to hospital.
Police said officers then responded to two additional reports of people in medical distress, shortly after that initial call. The first was a youth in the area of 17th Avenue S.E. and Macleod Trail S.E. and the second was for a man near Erlton Street S.W. and 27th Avenue S.W. Both were taken to hospital in serious but stable condition.
Calgary police say that investigators have determined that the three assaults are connected, and the "incident is not believed to be random."
The suspect or suspects remain at large, police added.
Calgary police are now looking for any additional witnesses or video footage of the assaults as investigators "believe a number of witnesses were present during the altercation and that some may have recorded the incident on their cellphones."
Anyone with information about the assaults is asked to contact police by calling 403-266-1234.
