Fatal pedestrian-involved crash in Maple Ridge

A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle Saturday night in Maple Ridge.

Ridge Meadows RCMP report on Aug. 30,  at approximately 11:02 pm, an officer on patrol was flagged down in the 20400-block of Lougheed Hwy.

An initial investigation revealed a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle. Attending police officers administered first-aid to the man, and Maple Ridge Fire Rescue and Emergency Health Services attended the scene. The man was transported to hospital but later died.

The Serious Crimes Unit (SCU) and the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) were called out to assist with the investigation.

Initially, Lougheed Highway was closed in both directions between 203 Street and 207 Street but has since re-opened.

Police are seeking witnesses and dash camera footage from the area. Anyone with any information, or if they were in the area at the time of this incident and have not provided a statement to the police, please contact the Ridge Meadows RCMP directly at 604-463-6251.
