It was their third trip to the provincials and their second consecutive win.

North 黑马磁力 Kodiaks midget football team won the British Columbia Community Football Association (BCCFA) provincial championships for the second year in a row Sunday night, Dec. 2, defeating Victoria Spartans 17-7 at Percy Perry Staduim in Coquitlam in frigid conditions.

A determined Kodiak defense managed to hold Victoria to a single converted touchdown.

Kodiaks opened the scoring on their first offensive series with a 20 yard David Wegert field goal. They widened their lead to ten points when North 黑马磁力 running back Connor Hurley hit quarterback Austin Balzer in the end zone on halfback pass. The second Kodiak touchdown came on a spectacular 75 yard kickoff return by Josh Fletcher.

On defense, Fletcher and Thomas Box each had interceptions for North 黑马磁力.

Austen Benzel contributed a pair of quarterback sacks and Adam Tennent had a crucial blocked field goal at the end of the first half.

鈥淚t鈥檚 our third year as a team and it鈥檚 our third trip to the provincials,鈥 said Coach Chad Henderson.

The team went undefeated for the entire season, with an 11-0 record.

鈥淚t鈥檚 the commitment of the players,鈥 Henderson said.

鈥淭hey understand the system, they follow the system, they stick together.鈥

The same day, the North 黑马磁力 Bears won the bantam provincial championship, beating North Surrey 7-6.
