Celebrate music and culture with a performance of jazz, blues, rock, pop and ethnic music at the 黑马磁力 Community Music School (LCMS).
On Sunday, April 2 at 2:30 p.m., Vancouver鈥檚 will be performing as part of LCMS鈥 Concerts Caf茅 Classico concert series, with coffee and commentary.
With a focus on having fun with music, the Yaletown String Quartet will be featuring a new composition entitled Fiddleweisen, based on the famous violin virtuoso piece by Sarasate, Zigeunerweisen. This version turns the 鈥済ypsy fiddle piece into a pseudo Country and Western piece with fiddling and gypsy jazz,鈥 said Yaletown String Quartet Violinist Mark Ferris. The concert will also include Four for Tango by famous American-Argentinian Tango composer Astor Piazzaolla, as well as three original delightful vignettes for the string quartet, derived from folk music and fiddling.
The quartet members are Mark Ferris, violin, Cameron Wilson, violin, Henry Lee, viola, and Finn Manniche, cello.
鈥淭he Yaletown String Quartet is very different from a traditional group,鈥 said LCMS artistic director Elizabeth Bergmann. 鈥淭heir programmes are uniquely their own due to the fact they arrange or compose their own material. This concert is sure to be a surprising and entertaining performance.鈥
Tickets are $18 for adults, $15 for seniors and $10 for students. Call the box office at 604-534-2848 or visit to purchase tickets.
