Trappers recover from Sockeyes slaughter

One night after giving up 10 goals, ºÚÂí´ÅÁ¦ junior B hockey team comes through with victory

Twenty-four hours after their worst loss of the season, the ºÚÂí´ÅÁ¦ Trappers rebounded with victory.

The Trappers built a 3-0 lead through the first 30 minutes and then hung on for the 3-2 win over the Surrey Knights on Thursday night at the North Surrey Rec Centre.

ºÚÂí´ÅÁ¦ was coming off a 10-2 home-ice loss the night before at the George Preston Recreation Centre to the visiting Richmond Sockeyes. The junior B hockey club sports a 3-3-0-0 record through the first six games of the Pacific Junior Hockey League.

Matthew Smoliga, Edvin Haskavic and Hollander Thompson had the ºÚÂí´ÅÁ¦ goals against Surrey with Brendan Carew stopping 27 of 29 shots. The Trappers fired 55 shots on goal in the game.

Against Richmond, ºÚÂí´ÅÁ¦ was down 2-1 midway through the first period before the Sockeyes blew the game open.

Richmond led 3-1 after one and 7-2 after 40 minutes.

Nicholas Wagner and Joshua Boelema had the Trapper goals.

The Trappers are back in action on Sunday as they visit the Grandview Steelers.
