Vancouver FC fell to Valour FC Friday at Willoughby Community Park, marring the debut of interim Head Coach Martin Nash.
Once again conceding an early goal, the Eagles found themselves forced to climb another uphill battle. They managed to equalize through a powerful header by Elage Bah, perfectly set up by a pinpoint cross from Kunle Dada-Luke, his first assist of the season.
In the second half Valour scored goals from Kris Twardek and Matteo Facchineri to widen the gap to 3-1, the third time this season a match between the two sides has ended with that scoreline.
"I thought we had a very good first half, bar the first five minutes," Nash said.
"You can't win a game off 30, 40 minutes, right?" Bah said after the match. "The game is 90 minutes, so if you're doing well for less than half the game, that's not going to be good, right? It's a learning point, and we'll see again next match how we can do, maybe the guys will have a bit more in their legs to go for maybe 70 minutes; (certainly), I'll challenge some of the guys this week to go for that 70 minutes full press, and we'll build off that."
Vancouver now faces a long week ahead, giving Nash more time to implement his vision before their next match in Halifax on Monday.
