Fire broke out in a home on Williams Road on Fairfield Island Monday (Aug. 18) morning.
One occupant was assessed by BC Ambulance for smoke inhalation after crews from Chilliwack Fire Department were called to the structure fire in the 10000 block of Williams Road.
Fire officials say 22 firefighters from Halls 1 and 4 found smoke billowing out from the basement of the single-family home.
"Crews quickly initiated an offensive interior attack, containing the fire to its area of origin."
A primary search by firefighters confirmed that everyone had been evacuated safely.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, say officials.
"The Chilliwack Fire Department would like to remind all residents to ensure they have working smoke alarms on each level of their home and in each sleeping area."
There were no firefighter injuries reported.
