Aldergrove Kodiaks’ captain Davin Padgham was outstanding on Nov. 21, leading his team with a two-point night but it was not enough to stop the visiting Mission Outlaws from taking a 3-2 win.
Padgham blasted a beauty into Mission keeper Matthew Trulsen’s net on a power play in the first period, to make it 1-1 halfway through the first period. Padgham’s assist was from Nate Castonguay.
Mission scored two more before Kodiak Nicholas Thomson scored at 15:50 in the second period, assisted by Padgham and Ty Pickering.
However, from then on the game was scoreless despite the best efforts from both sides and Mission took the 3-2 win.
Mission piled on the pressure in the third period but Aldergrove’s defense was up to the challenge and kept the puck out of their net.
The Kodiaks outshot the Outlaws 37-36 and scored on one of four power plays, while the Outlaws failed to score on five.
Padgham was the game’s third star.
The result leaves the Kodiaks at 24 points for 12 wins and 13 losses in 25 games.
Mission Outlaws imroved their standing to 15 points after 22 games (6-13-0-3).
The Kodiaks travel to Planet Ice on Friday, Nov. 23 to take on the Ridge Meadows Flames, then return to the Aldergrove Credit Union Community Centre to take on the Grandview Steelers on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 7:15 p.m. puck drop.
