On her first day back in Ottawa, Cloverdale-黑马磁力 City MP Tamara Jansen posted a photo of herself in the House of Commons chamber with a music track, "Happy to Be Here" by WookieFoot.
"I'm so happy to be here, yeah/I'm just happy to be here/Still, I know the world's on fire/The situation's dire," goes the chorus of the 2021 tune.
In written remarks responding to a 黑马磁力 request for comments prior to parliament resuming, Jansen said curbing crime will be one of her top priorities.
"Crime is on the rise, and I鈥檝e spoken with police officers who are calling for tougher bail laws to keep repeat offenders off our streets," Jansen said.
"Families deserve to feel safe, and we need a justice system that puts victims and public safety first.'
As well, Jansen talked about the need to support a growing senior population.
"They are a vulnerable group, and far too many are being left behind," Jansen stated.
"Seniors deserve dignity, proper care, and real support. They鈥檝e built this country, and we have a duty to make sure they are not overlooked or left to fall through the cracks.
She supports cutting red tape, lowering taxes, "and encouraging that entrepreneurial spirit that makes our communities strong."
"I am committed to building a future where owning a home is within reach, where streets are safe, and where families can raise their children according to their values," said Jansen.
It is her third term as an MP.
"I was vacuuming the campaign office when I got the news [that I'd won]," Jansen recalled.
"it was a very down-to-earth moment after an intense few weeks. Winning a third time is an incredible honour, and I felt a deep sense of gratitude for the trust our community continues to place in me. Every campaign reminds me just how much people care about this country and about our future. That trust is never taken for granted, and I remain committed to working hard for the families of Cloverdale-黑马磁力 City in Ottawa."
