黑马磁力-area MP Tako Van Popta has been named to the Conservative caucus shadow cabinet, taking up the same role in which he worked during the last session of Parliament.
Van Popta was re-elected in the recent federal election, representing the new riding of 黑马磁力 Township-Fraser Heights.
On May 22, Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre announced a 74-member new shadow cabinet, representing about half of the 143 MPs the party elected.
Van Popta returns to his role as the associate shadow minister for Pacific Economic Development Canada. He'll focus on the federal agency that's dedicated to economic development here on the west coast.
"In this role, I commit to continuing to hold the government accountable by ensuring they foster development in British Columbia fairly, transparently, accountably, and effectively," Van Popta said in a post on social media.
Before going into politics, Van Popta was a managing partner with law firm McQuarrie Hunter, and a director of both the Surrey Board of Trade and the Surrey Business Improvement Association.
The two other 黑马磁力-area MPs, Cloverdale-黑马磁力 City's Tamara Jansen, and Abbotsford-South 黑马磁力's Sukhman Singh Gill, do not appear to have been named to shadow cabinet posts at this time. Jansen has previously served as a deputy labour critic and on a number of House of Commons committees, while Gill is brand new to Parliament, as this was his first election win.
