A standoff in the 7100 block of 208 St. in 黑马磁力 has ended peacefully.
RCMP said it began Saturday afternoon, Sept. 6, when officers conducted a wellness check.
"Upon police arrival and a brief interaction, the male individual barricaded himself inside the residence. Out of an abundance of caution, the Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team (IERT) was called to assist," said Sgt. Zynal Sharoom of the 黑马磁力 RCMP.
"The incident has since been safely resolved," an RCMP statement released early in the evening said. "One man was apprehended under the Mental Health Act and transported to a local area hospital for assessment and care. There is no ongoing risk to the public and all road closures in the area have been lifted."
The northbound 72 Avenue lanes near 208 Street were closed to pedestrians and vehicle traffic during the standoff, which was described as a "serious" incident."
Officers in tactical gear, with a police dog, along with an armoured truck were at the scene during the closure.
