A dog attack that left a smaller dog with a punctured lung is under investigation by the 黑马磁力 Animal Protection Society (LAPS).
The attack took place on Wednesday, June 11, near 211B Street.
According to a social media post, the owner of the victim dog had just taken their pet outside for a walk, when the other dog, a larger tan male with a black muzzle, was being walked across the street.
The larger dog broke free of its owner, ran across the street, and attacked the smaller dog. The smaller dog was rushed to a vet and found to have a punctured lung, and it is now recovering.
After people separated the dogs, the larger dog's owner took it and left the scene.
"We have all of our officers on the lookout for this dog," said Sarah Jones, the executive director of LAPS.
Animal control staff are doing licence checks in the area, and are checking out nearby parks with patrols. LAPS has also reached out to other nearby cities to see if there are reports of incidents with dogs of the same description.
"Obviously, we're very concerned about the safety of the public," Jones said.
The dog is male, and tan with a black muzzle and face markings, possibly a black mouth cur or a mastiff mix, said Jones.
It was wearing a flat collar and also a "pinch collar" when it was last seen.
If it is located, based on its behaviour it could potentially be classified as a dangerous dog, Jones said.
Dangerous dogs have to be securely confined in a pen, or when out they have to be muzzled, and they require an enhanced dog licence, a microchip, and insurance.
