Construction on the 264 interchange will result in some nearby road closures on the weekend from June 13-16.

Reconstruction of the new 264 Street highway interchange in Aldergrove will result in lane closures from the evening of Friday, June 13 to early morning on Monday, June 16.

According to the Ministry of Transportation, lane closures will take place on 56 Avenue and 264 Street on the south side of the interchange starting at 7 p.m. on Friday, and last until 5:30 a.m. on Monday.

Traffic will merge to single lanes, and there will be single-lane alternating traffic at times. Drivers are asked to obey all signs and posted speed limits, and to avoid heavy traffic congestion and anticipated delays, should us alternate routes when possible.

The interchange has already seen some traffic pattern changes this spring, with parts of the old-style cloverleaf loops closed off.

The current phase of highway widening, from 216 Street to 264 Street, will involve rebuilding and replacing the 232 Street and 264 Street overpasses and interchange systems, as well as adding one lane each way. When contracts were tendered last year, this phase was budgeted at $345 million

Another phase following this one will widen the highway as far as Mt. Lehman in Abbotsford.
