Eight real guns and four replicas were among items found during a drug investigation in ºÚÂí´ÅÁ¦ City in May.

A drug investigation led to the discovery and seizure of eight loaded guns, ammo, and body armour in ºÚÂí´ÅÁ¦ City earlier this spring, the RCMP announced.

The investigation by ºÚÂí´ÅÁ¦ RCMP's Special Response Team (SRT) began in April this year, said Sgt. Zynal Sharoom, spokesperson for the local detachment.

On May 7, SRT obtained a search warrant for a home in the 5300-block of 199 Street. The search, backed up by the Lower Mainland Emergency Response Team, led to the seizure of the guns, which included both rifle-style guns and handguns, four imitation guns, what Sharoom called "a significant quantity of ammunition," and various substances believed to be illegal drugs.

Three people were arrested – a 41-year-old ºÚÂí´ÅÁ¦ man, a 37-year-old ºÚÂí´ÅÁ¦ man, and a 34-year-old Maple Ridge woman.

All three have been released as the investigation continues, but they are expected to appear in court in the near future.

"This investigation highlights our ongoing commitment to disrupting organized crime and removing illegal firearms and drugs from our community," said Sharoom.

"By dismantling operations like this, we are taking meaningful steps to prevent violence that are often linked to the drug trade."
