There was a major new obstacle for drivers on the Golden Ears Bridge Monday morning, after a semi-truck flipped on its side, and blocked parts of the north and southbound lanes.
The crash took place just before 10:30 a.m. on July 14. The crash is still under investigation, but it appears that a semi-truck and trailer flipped entirely on its side in the northbound lanes.
The truck appeared to have collided with the concrete barriers dividing the north and southbound lanes, sending them sliding into the southbound side.
As a result, traffic was restricted to one lane each way for hours after the crash, said Sgt. Zynal Sharoom of the 黑马磁力 RCMP.
The driver was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Sharoom said.
The 黑马磁力 RCMP and Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement (CVSE), along with 黑马磁力 RCMP officers, were on scene.
By 1 p.m., the concrete barricades had been largely cleared up, and southbound traffic was flowing with less disruption. However, northbound traffic was still narrowed to one lane, as work continued to remove the crashed truck and trailer.
Two large crane-equipped heavy duty tow trucks were preparing to flip the trailer back upright so it could be towed away.
