Surrey council at its regular land use meeting on June 23 voted to find another location for this project after opposition to approving it for a Tynehead neighbourhood.

Surrey council at its regular land use meeting on June 23 decided to have city staff find a different location for a proposed funeral parlour and crematorium at 9280-168 Street in Tynehead following from neighbours.

The applicants sought to develop a 6,025.8 square metre, three-storey funeral parlour building with three memorial halls, two cremators and office and storage space there as well as a caretaker suite and 200 parking spots near the Serpentine River.

Council without debate directed staff to "close the file and work with the applicant to find an alternative site for a future application."
