With the instantly recognizable artwork adorning its breakwater, Victoria serves as a backdrop for the latest iteration of a television show starring Canadian actor Jason Priestly.
Residents spotted filming of Private Eyes West Coast, a spin-off of the popular original series that aired on the network for five seasons from 2016 to 2021, and Priestly himself along Dallas Road on July 8.
Instead of Toronto, Global鈥檚 new Canadian original-scripted series starring Priestley and Cindy Sampson is set in Victoria.
鈥淚 am thrilled to be part of the Private Eyes West Coast spin-off, bringing Matt Shade back to the screen," Priestley said when the show was announced this spring. "The Private Eyes series has been such a global success thanks to our incredible partners and talented teams at Corus, Lionsgate Canada and Piller/Segan, and I can't wait for our audiences to see what surprises our new world has in store."
The new 10-episode spin-off series sees the two Canadian stars return as private investigators Matt Shade and Angie Everett, now navigating a fresh set of mysteries in their new West Coast home base of Victoria.
Production is set to run through the summer, according to Global.
The series comes from Lionsgate Canada and Shawn Piller and Lloyd Segan, the award-winning, writer-driven studio known for series such as Wild Cards, The Dead Zone, Haven, Wildfire, Greek and the original Private Eyes. Corus Entertainment is the commissioning broadcaster with Rachel Nelson, head of Corus Studios and Lynne Carter, director of original programming, overseeing the production. Lionsgate Television handles international distribution.
