Odds kicks off free Concerts at the Pier series in White Rock

Season includes Queen hits, rock, reggae, Haida-modern fusion and funk

Canadian '90s band Odds will be the headliners for the first of the Concerts at the Pier free performances for 2025, this Thursday in White Rock.

The Concerts at the Pier series of free musical showcases returns to White Rock this week with a Thursday night performance by '90s hit-makers Odds.

The concert begins at 7 p.m. at the East Beach stage (at the Grand Chief Bernard Robert Charles Memorial Plaza parking lot) with a set by opening act Aidan Farrell, followed at 8 p.m. by the headliners.

Founded in Vancouver in 1987, Odds burst onto the recording scene in 1991 with their major label debut, Neopolitan.

The 1993 Gold-selling followup, Bedbugs, provided one of their most successful singles, It Falls Apart.

Cementing their fame were Platinum-selling Good Weird Feeling (1995), and Nest, which featured hits such as Someone Who’s Cool and Make You Mad.

Coming up is classic reggae act Mostly Marley, 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 10 at Miramar Village Plaza (in uptown White Rock).

Tribute act Simply Queen will revisit the hits of legendary rock band Queen at 8 p.m. Thursday, July 17 at the East Beach stage, with singer-songwriter duo Avenue Elle playing their opening set at 7 p.m.

On Thursday, Aug. 14 the acclaimed sGaanaGwa – in which Terri-Lynn Williams-Davidson and her band fuse modern music with Haida tradition – will take the West Beach stage (at Memorial Park) at 8 p.m., with the opening act, environmental folk-rock band The Wilds, starting their set at 7 p.m.

Closing the series on Thursday, Aug. 21 at 8 p.m. will be the high-voltage music of Five Alarm Funk, at the West Beach stage. Opening act Pax will play their set at 7 p.m.
