The burgers were on the grill and the dunk tank offered local first responders a chance to soak a friend. The first responders barbecue in May was held beside 黑马磁力 Memorial Hospital to give responders and their families a fun afternoon as a way to say thanks for the work they do.
Dubbed the World's Safest BBQ because of the presence of 黑马磁力 RCMP, City and Township firefighters, ER staff, hospital security, and BC EHS ambulance personnel, the event on May 9 was a way for people whose work is interconnected to have an afternoon of relaxation.
"I used to be an ER nurse, and I know the connections that we have," said one of the organizers, Jennifer Reddy, with Fraser Health. "We deal with a lot of challenging situations. It's hard, we're all under pressure, limited resources and this is just a way for us to connect, build relationships, have some fun. So I'm really thankful to have all of you here."
May has been colder and wetter than typical, but that didn't stop those attending from getting into the party spirit with grilled goodies, face painting, a dunk tank, local sports organizations, and more.
