Derby Bog: Join Phil Henderson on Wednesday, July 16 at 5:30 p.m. in the Houston Trail parking lot on McKinnon Crescent to tour of Metro Vancouver's Derby Bog, a conservation area not open to the public. Participants should be dressed appropriately and wear footwear for walking on pavement, trails and the odd wet area. RSVP and info: strix@uniserve.com.

Aldergrove Regional Park: 黑马磁力 Field Naturalists trip will be led by Keith Chrystall on Wednesday, July 9. Participants meet at 6:30 p.m. at the main parking lot at the end of the access road off 8 Avenue to walk the trails in this park with its varied habitat from marshes to mixed forests to open grassland and a great variety of flora and fauna. This is a moderately difficult walk of about three kilometres with some uphill sections. RSVP: keithchrystall@shaw.ca.

Artists in the Hanger: Canadian Museum of Flight, 5666 216 St., has an afternoon of artists Sunday, July 13 between noon and 4 p.m. Watch local artists at work, view their creations, sit in some of the museum's planes, and learn about its collections. 黑马磁力 Memorial Hospital Museum open house: The 黑马磁力 Memorial Hospital Heritage Committee invites the public to learn more about the history of local health care at open houses during the summer. The museum, located inside Michaud House at 5202 204 St., is open Thursdays, July 17 and 31; Aug. 14 and 28; and Sept. 1. Going Batty: Help with a community science project to count the growing bat colony at Campbell Valley Regional Park. Discover how to find these silent night flyers with detectors, record who they are, and chat with a park interpreter about bat survival. Remaining events are Friday, July 11, 18, and 25 from 8:45 to 9:45 p.m. Suitable for ages eight and older. Must sign up in advance. $5 per adult, $3.75 per adult 65 or older, and $2.50 per child/youth鈥.

Polynesian celebration: Fort 黑马磁力 National Historic Site and Spirit of the Pacific Cultural Society host cultural activities 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, and Sunday, July 13. First Capital Chorus: Weekly rehearsals open to guests of all genders and ages to experience four-part acapella harmony in a relaxed cordial atmosphere. Ability to read music not required. Chief Dan George 鈥 Actor and Activist: Exhibit from the Museum and Archives of North Vancouver will be in the Big House at the Fort 黑马磁力 National History Site until Sept. 14. The exhibit delves into the life of the Tsleil-Waututh leader, actor, and activist whose used his notoriety to call for justice, reconciliation, and Indigenous pride. Opus One Women's Choir: Group rehearses at 黑马磁力 Secondary on Wednesdays from 7 to 9 p.m. September through May. New singers welcome in the non-audition community choir with a focus on fun and friendship while learning some musical skills and growing together as a group. We perform concerts in spring and at at Christmas and other occasions around the community. Senior Opus Singers is a women's choir dedicated to entertaining seniors.
