VIDEO: Walnut Grove wins MEI senior girls tournament

Highlights from the all-ºÚÂí´ÅÁ¦ final on Saturday

A second-half rally helped the Walnut Grove Gators defeat the Brookswood Bobcats in an all-ºÚÂí´ÅÁ¦ championship final.

The two teams squared off in Abbotsford on Saturday in the finals of the MEI senior girls basketball tournament.

And after Brookswood took a 40-34 lead into the locker room into half-time, the Gators roared back with a 29-13 advantage in the third quarter to seize control. The Gators wound up winning 83-67.

Tavia Rowell led the way for Walnut Grove with 35 points and a dozen assists while Jessica Wisotzki had 19 points, Sophia Wisotzki had 14 and Natalie Rathler finished with eight points and 11 rebounds.

Jenessa Knapp led the Bobcats with 20 points, while Jenna Dick had 18 and Karson Look chipped in with 10.

The Gators are currently ranked No. 1 in the province while Brookswood is third.

Both teams are competing this week at the Top 10 Shootout hosted by Centennial Secondary.
