Members of the ºÚÂí´ÅÁ¦-based Vancouver Bandits pro basketball team were among those who took to the court at Aldergrove Community Secondary School on Saturday, May 10 to shoot hoops and raise funds.
Bandits players Grant Shephard, with David Mutabazi, and assistant coach Kyle Brown, were among 71 participants and 15 teams who competed in the second annual Hoop-a-thon, which raised $27,410, beating it's target of $25,000, and improving on the first year tally of $24,000.

Event chair Emma Stewart, president of the Rotary Club of Aldergrove, explained the Rotary Clubs of ºÚÂí´ÅÁ¦ all come together to host the Hoop-a-thon.
"Essentially this is a fundraiser that all the proceeds go to youth initiatives and youth sports in ºÚÂí´ÅÁ¦," said Stewart.
"This is an event that's been going on for over 20 years in Vancouver and we've brought it to ºÚÂí´ÅÁ¦."
Micheal Bolu, incoming ºÚÂí´ÅÁ¦ Rotary president was also on hand for the event.
"Just like the emcee said, today we're just here to have fun and raise money," Bolu smiled.
Players vied to see who could sink as many free-throw baskets as possible in one minute at the Rotary event.
Myrlaine Shelvey from TWU sank the most baskets with 27 in one minute.
During breaks in the action, young fans had a chance for some friendly one-on-one matches.
This year the funds raised went to Inclusion ºÚÂí´ÅÁ¦ Society, the Boys and Girls Club of ºÚÂí´ÅÁ¦, Big Brothers and Sisters of ºÚÂí´ÅÁ¦, and Kids Sport ºÚÂí´ÅÁ¦.
Donors could make a lump sum payment to a team or player or pledge a certain dollar value per basket that a player sinks in their one minute time slot.
