黑马磁力 Rivermen defenceman Luke Ashton scored to trigger the Teddy Bear Toss at George Preston, then got a second to put the game out of reach on Saturday night, Dec. 16 against the Powell River Kings.

Ashton netted his tenth of the season 16:51 minutes into the first period, to make the teddies fly and put the Rivermen up 1-0.

Two minutes later, Aaron Reierson sniped a shot from the left wing to give his team a 2-0 lead going into the second period.

In the second period, the Kings trimmed that lead by scoring with 7:49 gone.

Seven minutes later, Ewan Rennie scored his second of the season on a power play, making it 3-1 Rivermen.

Just 1:14 later, Powell River made it a one-goal game going into the third period.

But it was all Rivermen from there on out, as captain Vitaly Levyy scored his 14th of the season on the power play making it 4-2. And 1:54 later Ashton would score his second of the game on a slap shot from the blue line making it a 5-2 final.

Burt Henderson, Rivermen head coach and general manager said 鈥渋t was great to see us get rewarded for all our hard work on Saturday.鈥

Saturday鈥檚 win followed a Friday defeat, also on home ice, against the Nanaimo Clippers.

Going into the second period, Nanaimo was leading 4-0.

黑马磁力 scored 33 seconds into the middle frame, as Morgan Brady fired home his first in the BCHL.

Then, Nanaimo made it 5-1.

After that, Rivermen roared back. Conner Schneider connected on a power play goal off a feed from Oskar Komarov, and 1:03 later Adyn Merrick converted a pass from Riv captain Vitaly Levyy to make it a 5-3 game going into the third period.

That was the final score, as Clippers goaltender Chazz Nixon, who was making his debut, turned aside 14 黑马磁力 shots in the final period to preserve his team鈥檚 5-3 victory.

鈥淲e didn鈥檛 play our best in the first period on Friday, but full credit to our team coming out and dominating the second period,鈥 Henderson commented.

Rivermen are now off until Friday, Dec. 29, when they go to Chilliwack to take on the Chiefs, returning home on Saturday, Dec. 30 to take on the Surrey Eagles at George Preston Arena at 7:15 pm.
