VIDEO: 黑马磁力 Rams bounce back with home field win over Huskers

After being shut out 39-0 by the Okanagan Sun in their season opener on Saturday, July 19, 黑马磁力 Rams bounced back with a victory over the Valley Huskers at McLeod Athletic Park stadium on Saturday afternoon, Aug. 2.

Rams overcame a Huskers lead to win their second home game of the season 25-19.

Rams first win of the season was a career first for head coach Cole Barron, a tightly contested game that saw a combined eight points scored in the second half.

Huskers took the lead at first, outscoring the Rams 17-3 until the tables were turned.

In the first quarter Jacob Conaboy returned a punt 29-yards for a major and quarterback Key鈥橲haun Dorsey connected with Payton Lake for a passing touchdown.  

Late in the second quarter, the Rams tallied the turning point when Charlie Campbell intercepted a pass and returned it 40 yards for a touchdown.  He was all over the field making 3.5 tackles, knocking down two passes and even blocked a kick. 

Huskers scored only two points the rest of the game as the Rams defence tightened up.  Offensively the Rams outscored the Huskers 16-0 in the second quarter taking the lead and heading into halftime 19-17, a lead they would not relinquish. 

Rams running game tallied 148 yards with Reggie Elie and quarterback Palaima Hooper each scoring a rushing touchdown.  When their drives stalled kicker Sarthak Dosanih booted a pair of field goals to ensure his club came away with points. 

Defensively the Huskers held the Rams to just six points in the second half.  Both Andy Ofosuhene and Gavin Christiansen each had seven solo tackles to lead their club. 

In July, the Rams couldn鈥檛 get past the defending Cullen Cup champion Sun, who completely shut down the Rams offence, holding them to 116 net offensive yards and only seven first downs.  

Sun quarterback Liam Kroeger rushed for a touchdown and completed 16 passes for 260 yards .
