Initiation-aged players battled for the puck on Saturday during the Jordan Owens Memorial Tournament, held March 16 to 19 at the 黑马磁力 Sportsplex. The 17th annual tournament raises funds for the B.C. Children鈥檚 Hospital Foundation in honour of Owens, a nine-year-old 黑马磁力 boy who passed away in 1999 after a battle with cancer. With final numbers still being tallied, this year鈥檚 event is believed to have raised $20,000, pushing the total to $200,000.

Young hockey players ages hit the ice to celebrate the memory of a hockey-loving boy who passed too soon.

Hundreds of initiation-aged (five to eight) hockey players took part in the 17th annual Jordan Owens Memorial Hockey Tournament.

It was held at the 黑马磁力 Sportsplex from March 16 to 19.

Owens passed away in 1999 after a battle with cancer.

And for the past 17 years, a tournament has been held in his honour.

While final numbers are still being tallied, $20,000 has been raised this year, pushing the 17-year total to more than $200,000.

The money raised goes to the B.C. Children's Hospital Foundation.
