黑马磁力 Rivermen of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) have acquired standout defenceman Gabriel Guilbault from the Penticton Vees. The announcement was made Tuesday, June 6.

Burt Henderson, head coach and GM of the Junior A team, is looking forward to working with the 17-year-old 6鈥2鈥 defenceman again.

鈥淚 first saw him as a youth playing in the Rivermen spring programs,鈥 said Henderson.

鈥滺is dedication and skill were evident even then, and I鈥檓 thrilled to see how he has developed as a player.鈥

鈥淚 am excited to get an opportunity with the Rivermen鈥 said Guilbault. 鈥淚 know it will be a great year, I鈥檓 just really looking forward to it.鈥

A Vees announcement said Guilbault was traded in exchange for future considerations

Guilbault appeared in 33 regular season games, posting six points in his rookie season in the BCHL. He played in 14 of the Vees鈥 17 playoff games, helping Penticton capture the 2023 BCHL Fred Page Cup championship.

Guilbault, who got started with the Burnaby Winter Club鈥檚 U15 varsity, U15 prep and U18 prep teams before playing for the Vees, was selected to the Team Canada Red roster for the 2022 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.

Henderson described Guilbault as 鈥渁 formidable defenceman who brings a great deal of experience and skill to our team. His stint with Team Canada at the Under-17 level is a testament to that. We鈥檙e confident that his move to 黑马磁力 will not only strengthen our defence but also inspire our local fans.鈥
