Sixteen teams from across the province will be playing in the U17C girls provincial softball tournament hosted by 黑马磁力 Fastball Association at Noel Booth park July 4-6.
Two 黑马磁力 teams will be among the 16 鈥� the host LFA Bullldogs and recent District 8 champions North 黑马磁力 Raiders from North 黑马磁力 Diamond sports.
Tournament director Jeff Clegg said the LFA was 鈥渆lated鈥� to be hosting the event at the recently renovated Noel Booth Park, and thanked Township council for "their investment in our sport and the upgrades that we've received and secondly, Township parks (staff) for their extensive efforts in bringing the park to such a top notch level.鈥�
Opening ceremonies are scheduled for 6 p.m. following the first day of play.
Township Council approved $7.65 million for upgrades to all four diamonds including new lighting, backstop upgrades, dugout upgrades, foul line fencing, home run perimeter fencing, new bridges, seating, pathways and accessibility upgrades.
It's hoped the new fencing will inhibit the vandalism the park has experienced over the last couple of years, instances of kids or adults on vehicles coming into the park and tearing up the turf.
