Born in Duncan, BC to Giani Harnam Singh and Jagdish Kaur, Shorty was the youngest of five children. He grew up across Vancouver Island, the Lower Mainland, and eventually settled in Chilliwack. His family were pioneers in the trucking industry and farming community of Chilliwack, known for their deep roots in the Sikh community and for helping immigrants become proud new Canadians.

In 1967, Shorty married Ranjit Kaur (Rani), and they began their family life in Chilliwack and Vancouver before establishing themselves in 黑马磁力 in 1977. Ranjit and Shorty made a lasting impact in the trucking industry together.

Known for his creativity, charm, wit, charisma, sense of style, humour, and passion for cars & trucks, Shorty leaves behind a lasting impression.

He will be deeply missed by his wife, Ranjit, and their four children: Ajeet (Ninu), Anupe (Petrus), Dr. Bhajneek (Dr. Oystein), and Kamaljeet (Myles). He is also lovingly remembered by his five grandchildren: Ganimul, Angad, Jia, Magnus, and Mille.

A service will be held on May 17th, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Riverside Funeral Home & Crematorium - 7410 Hopcott Rd, Delta, BC. Followed by prayers/langar at Akali Sikh Temple at 1:00pm
