RCMP are looking for witnesses and dashcam footage after a crash, that closed Highway 1 in Chilliwack for nearly eight hours, sent an elderly man to hospital with serious injuries.
The in the eastbound lanes where a white Toyota Tacoma pickup and a black GMC Sierra pickup collided between Lickman Road and Yale Road West around 3:10 p.m.
"Due to the speed of the collision, both vehicles rolled into a deep ditch at the side of the highway," Cpl. Michael McLaughlin, media relations officer with RCMP's BC Highway Patrol, stated in a press release on Sept. 4.
The 18-year-old Chilliwack man who was driving the Toyota received minor injuries. The elderly Alberta man driving the GMC was air-lifted to hospital.
The Alberta man's injuries are "serious and may be life-altering," McLaughlin added.
"BC Highway Patrol is asking for more witnesses and dash camera video to determine exactly what happened."
