A missing senior's family and friends are hopeful he will still be found, alive and well, after he in Surrey nearly a week ago.
William Haworth, 76, was last seen around 12:30 p.m. last Wednesday (Aug. 27) in the 16200-block of Glenwood Crescent in Surrey and has not been seen or heard from since.
His daughter, Kristina Morrison, said she and their family and friends and neighbours have all been searching non-stop for her father, a former high school teacher and coach.
"It's just a wild goose chase, but he's got to be somewhere — and no one's seen him. It's just crazy," she said Monday.
She is hoping that neighbours — especially those who may have been away on summer vacation — will check their surveillance and doorbell and vehicle camera footage, as well their back yards or any outbuildings, to get an idea of what happened to her Dad, and where he went.
An easygoing, social person, her Dad always "goes out daily for walks and runs and he always circles back home, no problem ... he's never not made it home easily. He knows his sense of direction."
After five days, some neighbourhood camera footage showed Haworth turning to go west, up the street, instead of down, his usual route, she noted.
"To see him after he left his driveway was huge — just to know ... there he is, and and he was sauntering along on a walk, just a little neighbourhood loop like he often does," she said. "We just haven't been able to figure out which way he went from there."
With many trails and green spaces in the area, Morrison is hoping someone has camera footage or other information that can help, and plans to ask Fraser Heights Secondary School as well as a local rec centre for any potential CCTV footage, as her father often does a trail loop that ends near the school.
"We don't know if he's in the area still somehow, or managed to get to somebody's yard who's out of town, or did he actually manage to get out of Fraser Heights ... we don't know. It's terrifying."
Haworth is described as white, 5’10”, 200 pounds and bald. He was last seen wearing a white baseball cap, blue shirt, black shorts, white sneakers.
He may appear confused or disoriented; if a member of the public locates him, police encourage them to stay with him until police arrive.
