A man's been charged in a nearly three-year old Surrey murder case.
Nelson Adam Short has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of Frank James.
According to a press release from the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT), Short, 42, was arrested May 23 in Burnaby for 鈥渁lleged involvement鈥 in James鈥檚 murder. Short was charged the next day (May 24) by the B.C. Prosecution Service.
鈥淗e made a brief appearance in court on May 24, 2025, and was detained by a judicial justice,鈥 IHIT Staff Sergeant David Lee, noted in the release. 鈥淗is next appearance is on May 29, 2025.鈥
Back on Aug. 24 in 2022, Surrey Mounties responded to a report of a man in distress at a home in the 18800-block of 76th Avenue in Surrey's Clayton Heights neighbourhood.
"First responders located 47-year-old Frank James with life-threatening injuries,鈥 Lee noted. 鈥淒espite life-saving measures by BCEHS, Frank James did not survive. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) took conduct of the investigation.鈥
IHIT is working with the RCMP Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit, the Surrey Police Service, and the Integrated Forensic Identification Service on the investigation.
According to the release, IHIT believes 鈥渢here were others involved鈥 and is appealing to the public for more info. They want to speak to more witnesses who might have information on what happened to James that night.
鈥淎s this matter is now before the courts, no additional information will be released.鈥
