Day passes soon needed for Golden Ears Provincial Park

Day-use passes will be needed starting Friday, May 16

On Friday day passes will be needed to enter Golden Ears Provincial Park for the summer. 

Day-use passes will be required starting on May 16 until Sept. 1 for visitors ot the park from Friday to Monday and on holidays. 

Passes are required for all parking lots past the Spirea trailhead including: the Alouette boat launch; Alouette Lake South Beach day-use area; Gold Creek trailhead which opens late June; and the West Canyon trailhead. 

A pass is free and can be booked on the BC Parks day-use pass website starting at 7 a.m. two days before a guest plans to visit the park. 

BC Parks advises if there are no passes left to check again later because some might become available again if someone cancels. 

No day-use pass is necessary if you have a valid camping reservation or backcountry permit for overnight camping. Just carry your reservation or backcountry permit details with you when in the park. 

Each vehicle, carrying a maximum of 12 people, needs a day-use pass.

Passes are not required after 3:30 p.m..

There is designated space in the park for 100 boat launch vehicles and 800 regular vehicles at Alouette Lake boat launch and the South Beach day-use area. Another 110 vehicles are permitted at the Gold Creek trailhead and another 55 vehicles at West Canyon trailhead. 

"Reserving a pass helps us manage the number of park visitors, so we can protect the park and you can have a better visiting experience," explained BC Parks online.

A maximum of four passes may be booked per reservation. Passes cannot be transferred to another date, time, location, or person.
