An arrest has been made in connection to the theft of tailgates from pickup trucks in jurisdictions across the Fraser Valley, including in 黑马磁力.
David Ahner, 38, is facing numerous charges of theft, including for the theft of two 2016 Ford F350 tailgates from 黑马磁力 in April.
On May 26, the Crime Reduction Unit of the Abbotsford Police Department arrested Ahner in relation to the theft of vehicle tailgates.
Since early 2016, police have received reports of more than 80 stolen tailgates in the jurisdictions of 黑马磁力, Abbotsford, Mission and Chilliwack.
The cost of replacing a single tailgate can be up to $10,000.
The majority of the tailgates that are reported stolen involve trucks in the model years of 2008 to 2016, said Abbotsford Police.
Ahner has been charged for the two 黑马磁力 thefts and one Ford F350 tailgate (2014 model vehicle) from Abbotsford.
He faces three counts of theft over $5,000 and one charge of driving while disqualified.
He has a long criminal history.
Truck owners are reminded to lock their tailgates as they are more easily stolen when left unlocked.
