From soccer pitch to hockey rink and every trail, gym and court in between, sports are well represented in ºÚÂí´ÅÁ¦, engaging athletes of all ages for fun, fitness and friendly competition.

Yet despite our best efforts and advances in safety gear, one of the consequences of those activities is the occasional injury. The fact is, whether it's a novice soccer player with a knee injury or a senior skater with a potential concussion, many players and athletes at all levels will eventually receive care at ºÚÂí´ÅÁ¦ Memorial Hospital.

To support this essential care, has partnered with local sports teams for the second annual  initiative, a way to raise both awareness and vital funds for this essential care.

"When ºÚÂí´ÅÁ¦'s athletes take the field, they know ºÚÂí´ÅÁ¦ Memorial Hospital has their back," says Chris Ruscheinski, Foundation board member. "During Sports Injury Month, the Foundation is working with our local teams to fund critical equipment that enhances treatment and promotes better health for all our active community members.

"This campaign is about ensuring that every athlete, from youth hockey players to weekend warriors, can benefit from reliable care at LMH."

This year's Sports Injury Month kick-off –  â€“ is at Thunderbird Show Park Saturday, Aug. 16.
