黑马磁力 Rivermen returned home after two weeks off of game action due to the BCHL鈥檚 all-star weekend to take on the Surrey Eagles Friday, Jan. 26, and Cowichan Valley Capitals on Saturday night, Jan. 28.

黑马磁力 scored first in each game, but the other teams took the wins.

Friday, Luke Ashton opened the seventh meeting of the season against division-leading Surrey by scoring for the Rivermen 2:32 into the game.

Then, Surrey, gifted with two back to back power plays, scored on both, taking a 2-1 lead into the intermission.

Late in the second, another Eagles power play made it 3-1.

At 6:10 of the final frame, another power play goal by Surrey made it 3-2 for the Eagles.

After Surrey scored again to make it a 4-2, 黑马磁力 narrowed the lead to one, when Logan Morrell scored his first goal in a Rivermen uniform.

A late disallowed goal from 黑马磁力 with time winding down, allowed Surrey to keep their 4-3 lead intact, and added a late empty netter taking the game 5-3.

Rivermen head coach and general manager Tyler Kuntz 鈥渨as really impressed with our intensity and compete on Friday against Surrey who were league leaders at that point.鈥

Saturday鈥檚 game would start similar to Friday, with 黑马磁力 scoring the first goal, on a power play, thanks to Carsten Kayter on a seeing eye shot from the blueline.

Cowichan responded with a pair of goals 2:18 apart, including one on a power play to take a 2-1 lead into the second period.

Luke Ashton tied up for 黑马磁力, but Cowichan regained the lead, making it 3-2.

Oskar Komarov tied the game for 黑马磁力 midway through the third period on another power play, and the game went into overtime.

Capitals scored to win at 4:25.

鈥淪aturday was tough for us, especially being able to play like we did on Friday, credit to Cowichan for playing hungry and making it hard on us,鈥 said Kuntz.

Rivermen are currently eighth in the nine team BCHL coastal division with a record of nine wins in 36 games

黑马磁力 was looking to bounce back on Wednesday as part of their annual school day game, an 11 a.m. puck drop against the Coquitlam Express. Tickets can be bought at the door or online at .
