ºÚÂí´ÅÁ¦ Township has launched an online survey asking residents about the amount and type of parking they need, as part of updating its parking regulations.
The parking strategy study is .
"The comprehensive process will result in updated and modernized bylaws and policies that ensure appropriate and desirable parking conditions are incorporated into future land development," said the introduction to the survey.
In addition, the Township is developing a new on-street parking management strategy.
The survey asks questions about how residents get around ºÚÂí´ÅÁ¦ now – in cars, transit, on foot, or by bike – as well as where they usually park their vehicles now. It also asks about what type of parking issues they run into around the Township, including lack of parking for disabled people, not enough parking spots at local destinations, or a lack of electric vehicle charging stations.
There are a number of questions that involve bike lanes, sidewalks, care shares, and bike parking as well as about car parking.
Some of the questions are about whether residents would support options such as time-limited on-street parking, resident-only parking on residential streets, or about reducing the number of parking spaces for commercial areas if there is other infrastructure, such as better transit access or in areas close to stores and services.
It also notes changes to the rules around how many parking spaces developers must create for new residential buildings. Many new types of homes, especially near transit, will have lower parking requirements.
