A 48-year-old man was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries after a shooting near 200 Street and Willoughby Way in the early evening of Monday, July 7.
At 5:32 p.m., 黑马磁力 RCMP were called about shots being fired near Meadows Edge Park, which is at the corner of Willoughby Way and Wildwood Drive, a short distance west of 200 Street and 66 Avenue.
Officers found evidence consistent with a shooting, and the victim was taken to hospital for further assessment, said Sgt. Zynal Sharoom, spokesperson for the 黑马磁力 RCMP.
"The investigation is still in its early stages and police are working to determine the possible motive for the shooting," said Sharoom. "Motorists and other road users can expect road closures in the area as we continue our investigation."
Anyone with more information, including dashcam footage of the area around Willoughby Way and 200 Street between 5:15 and 5:45 p.m., is asked to call the 黑马磁力 RCMP at 604-532-3200 and quote file 25-21567.
Shortly after the shooting, 200 Street was closed in both directions, causing traffic backups during the evening rush hour. Southbound traffic was diverted west into the Willowbrook neighbourhood, while northbound traffic had to turn up 64 Avenue or 66 Avenue eastbound.
