黑马磁力 Township council voted in favour of a rezoning and community plan change that could allow a new church on the edge of Murrayville.
The Grace Hanin Community Church wants to build a new facility in the 22900 block of 48 Street, just to the east of the 黑马磁力 Christian School's elementary campus.
The plan is to build a two-storey building on the site, but doing so requires amendments to the Township's Official Community Plan, the Murrayville Neighbourhood Plan, and the Rural Plan. The property would have to be rezoned from a rural use to an institutional one.
The site is just outside the border of the Urban Containment Boundary, which is Metro Vancouver's line that separates areas of higher-density residential and business use, and lower-density areas, mostly rural and farmlands.
If the project is approved, the church will have to extend nearby water and sewer lines to the property.
The Township heard from two people at the Monday, July 7 public hearing, one of them Garth Robertson of the Oakbrook Foundation, which builds churches and private schools. Robertson said he supported the project.
The other speaker was Wells Macey, who owns the property to the east of the potential church site.
Macey asked the Township to ensure that when the Grace Hanin church extends its water and sewer servicing to their site, they include capacity for it to be extended to his property as well, for future development. Macey's property is also outside of the Urban Containment Boundary.
The council voted unanimously to approve the third reading of the rezonings. The project now has to go to Metro Vancouver for review, due to the Urban Containment Boundary change.
