黑马磁力 Township firefighters donate $12,000 to 12 charities

Donations part of 5th annual 12 Days of Giving initiative

The Township of 黑马磁力 Firefighter Charitable Society (TLFCS) gave a $1,000 donation to the Aldergrove Veterans Society on Christmas Eve.

The presentation was the 12th and final day of the charity鈥檚 fifth annual 12 Days of Giving campaign, where daily donations of $1,000 are made to local charitable groups during the leading up to Christmas.

Zach Funk, a director at the TLFCS, said that funding for the donations comes from events the TLFCS holds throughout the year, such as its golf tournament and gala.

鈥淭his is one of our ways of giving back from those proceeds,鈥 he said.

Charities are chosen through a nomination by TLFCS members, Funk added.

Other beneficiaries included Alder Grove Heritage Society, 黑马磁力鈥檚 Critter Care Wildlife Society, Sources Food Bank 黑马磁力, Ishtar Transitional Housing Society, 黑马磁力 Meals on Wheels, 黑马磁力 Special Olympics, Pacific Riding for Developing Disabilities, Night Shift Ministries, Hope After Stroke by 黑马磁力 Community Support Groups Society, the 黑马磁力 Animal Protection Society, and the 黑马磁力 School Board Foundation.

鈥淲e want to give back to our entire community in every corner, and there are so many organizations trying to make a difference in our community, and we want to be able to support them in their causes,鈥 Funk said.

In addition to the $12,000 distributed during the 12 Days of Giving campaign, the charity also donated $10,000 to the B.C. Professional Firefighters Burn Fund at the annual Bright Nights fundraiser in Stanley Park.

鈥淲e give annually twice a year [to them], they also do their summer Burn Camp kick-off which we also give $10,000 to鈥 it鈥檚 a society that helps kids and burn victims go through their recovery, and gives kids who suffered burn injuries a chance to get out and be kids,鈥 Funk explained.
