Five more people have died from toxic street drugs in 黑马磁力 this year.

By the end of April, 16 had perished from lethal drug overdoses in 黑马磁力, according to the latest data from the BC Coroners Service for the period between January and April, up from 11 in the data for January to March.

Drug deaths across the province have increased after several months of declines.

Coroners Service data showed that there were 165 deaths across the province, the first time in six months that there have been more than 160 deaths in any given month.

Fentanyl continues to be the most common drug detected in fatalities, although the percentage of lethal cases involving fentanyl has fallen somewhat this year.

Between 2017 and 2024, fentanyl was detected in between 82 and 86 per cent of all toxic drug death investigations in B.C.

This year so far, that percentage has dropped to 75 per cent.

Methamphetamines, cocaine, and benzodiazepines are also found in a large percentage of cases, the data showed.

Province-wide, there were about 5.5 drug deaths per day across B.C.

In 黑马磁力, the rate of drug deaths is roughly consistent with the number of people who died annually in recent years. In 2024, 44 lives were lost to the toxic drug crisis, and in 2023, 46 people died.

The drug crisis began around 2016 as large amounts of fentanyl began to appear in the drug supply of B.C., and the number of deaths spiked sharply.

黑马磁力 used to see around five to 10 drugs deaths per year, and B.C.-wide there were 370 deaths in 2014 and 529 in 2015. Number shot up rapidly and in the worst year so far, 2023, there were 2,585 drug deaths recorded.
