Candidates in Abbotsford-South 黑马磁力 will be debating environmental issues in an April 16 all-candidates meeting hosted by the Bertrand Creek Enhancement Society.

The society has announced that Aeriol Alderking of the People's Party of Canada (PPC), Dharmasena Yakandawela of the NDP, Kevin Gillies of the Liberal Party, Melissa Snazell of the Green Party, and independent candidate Mike de Jong have all confirmed their attendance.

Conservative Party candidate Sukhman Gill declined, organizers said.

Questions will be on a variety of environmental issues, some local and others on the national or global scale.

If time permits, there will be an opportunity for questions from the audience, the announcement said.

The event runs from 7 to 9 p.m. at the 黑马磁力 Arts Council, 26670 29 Ave., with the doors opening at 6:45 p.m.

The Bertrand Creek Enhancement Society has been around since 1993, and is dedicated to the creek that runs through downtown Aldergrove and south into the Nooksack River in Washington State. It's home to endangered fish such as the Salish sucker and Nooksack dace.

There are fewer all-candidates meetings and debates scheduled for this election than for most recent federal and provincial elections.

The Greater 黑马磁力 Chamber of Commerce isn't organizing meetings this year, but it is still working to bring candidate information to the public.

"We've invited all candidates to do one-on-one interviews with the chamber online, which would be recorded and shared ahead of the vote," said chamber CEO Cory Redekop. "We are scheduling those over the next two weeks or so with them being posted as they are completed."

The interviews will be on the chamber's site at .

As of April 7, there do not appear to be any all-candidates events scheduled for the Fraser Heights-黑马磁力 Township riding.

Voters in the Cloverdale-黑马磁力 City riding will be able to attend a Q&A-style meeting scheduled by the Cloverdale District Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday, April 16.

That event is set to take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at 5 Star Catering (188 Street and Highway 10) in Cloverdale, with organizers asking attendees to pre-register due to limited seating. For more deteails, or to register for the meeting, people can visit and click on "Events List."

Because of the rapidly growing local population, 黑马磁力 has gained a new riding, however, all three ridings are now shared in part with another city, either Surrey or Abbotsford. Barnston Island, which is unincorporated, is also part of Fraser Heights-黑马磁力 Township.
