Surrey Police Service investigators are looking for witnesses in three recent alleged assaults and one alleged sexual assault.

Surrey police are hoping witnesses to three alleged assaults — all in the same day — will contact them.

Surrey Police Service is looking for additional witnesses in a Thursday (June 5) incident, where one man has been arrested and had charges laid in an alleged sexual assault and assault investigation, an SPS release said.

At approximately 10:30 p.m. on June 5, a woman exited a transit bus and was walking west on 72 Avenue from 132 Street when she was allegedly approached from behind and assaulted, and sexually assaulted, by an unknown man. The woman managed to get away from the stranger, and police were called, the release continued.

While police were arriving, the same man approached another woman who was standing at the nearby bus stop, and allegedly assaulted her. Police arrived a short time later and took the man into custody.

During the investigation into these two assaults, police learned of another alleged assault that occurred earlier in the day, a short distance away, the release noted.

At approximately 2:30 p.m., police were called for a reported assault that had occurred near the intersection of 72 Avenue and 130 Street. A woman reported that she was approached and assaulted by a man unknown to her, said the release. Police are investigating potential links between this incident and the incident that occurred later that night.

Jatinder Singh Gill, a 33-year-old man, has been charged with one count of sexual assault and two counts of assault. He is currently remanded in custody until his next appearance on Friday, June 13, police said.

Police believe that there are likely several witnesses to the incidents at both locations that have yet to be identified and speak with police.

SPS is asking any witnesses to any of the three incidents to please contact them through the non-emergency line at 604-599-0507 and quote file number 25-46140 (SP).
