Surrey Police Service is letting the public know to expect "a significant outlaw motorcycle gang presence" in Surrey starting this Thursday and lasting through Sunday.
Drivers are advised that SPS, as well as police from neighbouring jurisdictions, will be monitoring a "very large" Hells Angels motorcycle procession that is expected to draw more than 700 motorcyclists, an SPS release said, beginning at 11:30 a.m. Thursday morning (June 12) in Coquitlam, and end at Aria Banquet Hall, located in the 12300-block of Pattullo Place.
"This traffic-related event is likely to cause delays to motorists in parts of the city of Surrey tomorrow (Thursday, June 12) between 11:30 a.m. and noon," the release said.
In Surrey, intersections and traffic are expected to experience delays northbound from Highway 1 on Highway 15, Highway 17 to Bridgeview Drive, Bridgeview Drive to King George Boulevard, and King George Boulevard to 120 Street.
Police will be at many of the major intersections to ensure the safety of drivers and pedestrians who may find themselves in the area at the time, and the SPS will have additional officers working through the weekend, with special attention paid to restaurants and bars throughout Surrey to prevent any gang-related incidents, police said.
