The Courtenay Cheese company, Natural Pastures Cheese Company is having its Mount Becher Buffalo Medium Cheese recalled from the marketplace due to a possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.
The cheese was sold in both British Columbia and Ontario.
According to the Government of Canada food recalls and safety alerts, if you think you have purchased the possibly contaminated product, you should not consume, serve, use, sell or distribute the product.
The lot number on the affected product is 854 179 and can be found on the back of the package.
The recalled product should be thrown out or returned to the location where it was purchased.

Food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick. Symptoms can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness. Pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk.
