Two 22-year-old Abbotsford men were killed and another was seriously injured after their truck crashed down an embankment near Mission on Thursday night (July 17).
Mission RCMP responded to the crash on Norrish Creek Forest Service Road shortly before 9 p.m. after the injured man flagged down a driver.
"The man – who was found around the seven-kilometre mark – said he had been a passenger in a truck with two friends, when the truck crashed," a news release from the detachment reads.
Mission Search and Rescue (MSAR) discovered where the vehicle went off the road and found the wreckage of the pickup truck in the creek approximately 300 feet down the embankment.
"Sadly, both of the remaining occupants died as a result of the crash. The man who made it to the roadway suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries," RCMP said.
According to the release, the trio were all 22-year-old Abbotsford residents camping with other friends in the area. Police say the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
The Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction unit is investigating alongside Mission RCMP’s Traffic Services Unit.
