Wins and scholarships for speedy 黑马磁力 swimmers

Members of the LOSC had a good meet in Victoria.

黑马磁力 Olympians swimmers racked up some wins and a club record in a recent meet on Vancouver Island.

Nine 黑马磁力 Olympians swimmers dove into the Senior Circuit Swim Meet that was held in Victoria on Saturday, Oct. 20.

The meet had more than 150 swimmers in attendance from across B.C. who achieved their Senior Circuit time standard. The 黑马磁力 Olympians Swim Club swimmers placed in multiple events, swam many personal best times and even had a club record broken.

Josie Field, 16, placed in three events this weekend. She placed first in the Women鈥檚 200m Butterfly with a time of 2:18.81. She placed second in the Women鈥檚 50m Butterfly with a best time of 28.94 and the 200m Freestyle with a time of 2:07.05. She also placed fifth in the Women鈥檚 100m Butterfly with a time of 1:03.99.

Bailey Herbert, 15, placed first in the Women鈥檚 100m Breaststroke with a best time of 1:09.92. She placed second and broke the Olympians Club 10 year old record in the 15-17 & Senior/Open Women鈥檚 100m Freestyle with a best time of 57:01. Bailey also placed fourth in the Women鈥檚 100m Backstroke with a time of 1:05.93.

Joshua Kim, 16, place second in the Men鈥檚 50m Breaststroke with a time of 30.73. He also placed third in the Men鈥檚 200m Breaststroke with a time of 2:22.61 and in the Men鈥檚 100m Breaststroke with a time of 1:05.94.

Hugh McNeill, 15, placed fourth in the Men鈥檚 200m Backstroke with a time of 2:06.50.

Sophia Adrain, 15, placed fifth in the Women鈥檚 200m Freestyle with a best time of 2:36.72.

Adam Schmidt, 15, and Dylan Thomas, 15, swam 100 per cent best times in all events.

Josie Field was accepted and received a swimming scholarship to the University of British Columbia. She will be swimming with the Thunderbirds starting in September 2019. Swimmers Bailey Herbert and Hugh McNeill were selected to be a part of the Swimming Canada/Sport Canada Athlete Assistance Program. This program provides direct financial support for athletes with great potential to achieve top eight results at Olympic/Paralympic Games and World Championships.
