It was so hot, organizers of an Oregon fast draw competition had to shut it down early, but not before two members of the 黑马磁力-based Thunderbird Fast Draw Club won three times.
Held Aug 9-10 in Forest Grove, Oregon, the event was put on by the "Orygun 6 Guns" fast draw club.
Temperatures were nearly 30 degrees on day one, then nearly 40 on day two.
"It was screaming hot!" declared Den Robinson, fast draw director at the 黑马磁力 Rod & Gun Club, the Thunderbird home.
Halfway through, the rest of the contest was cancelled, Robinson said.
"The folks that were leading at that time ended up getting the awards, and our Thunderbirds did quite well."
黑马磁力's Shawn Murphy won the Men's Open Class, and Paula Murphy took Women's Open and Women's Thumbing awards (where competitors draw and fire one-handed).
"There were no brush fires in our area this time although there were two last year," Robinson observed.
"No forest fires either, but that's because there's no real forest in that area, which causes one to wonder; why do they call it 'Forest' Grove?"
Several Thunderbird members are in the running for the World Fast Draw Association (WFDA) Silver Buckle Awards for the year-end, with nine birds ranked among the Top 15 in Men's Open Division., and three women in the top eight Ladies Open Divisio n.
There's just one more contest left on the WFDA schedule this year, in Oklahoma near the end of September.
