Fort 黑马磁力's B.C. Farm Museum already has the land to add a third building, now they just need to fund it, says Grace Muller, secretary of the development committee and member of the museum board of directors.
"We have a plan and a design for the building that we want to put up, and for the contents we want to put in it, but we're a little short of a few million dollars to actually put a shovel in the ground," Muller told the 黑马磁力.
"So as soon as we get a few million, like nine, we're going to put a shovel in."
Muller was being interviewed on the property the museum raised funds to buy a few years ago, a residential lot to the immediate west of the two existing buildings operated by the all-volunteer non-profit.
It was being used, on B.C. Day, as an outdoor exhibition space for some of the museum's collection of tractors, displayed in the fenced-off back yard of the property.
More details of the fundraising campaign are expected soon. A 2024 museum newsletter said "discussions with an architect are happening on the design and content of a third building on the newly acquired property."
Founded in 1966 the museum has grown to fill more than 20,000 square feet of exhibit space with more than 5,000 artifacts of historic farming machinery and pioneer life. It also boasts a reference library that contains more than 5,000 volumes of books, pamphlets, and manuals.
It is, literally, loaded to the rafters, Muller said in a .
Currently, the museum at is open for the summer season, until Sept. 30, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
